SSL Renewal

SSL renewal is the process of purchasing a new SSL certificate for the same public key used in an expiring certificate1. SSL certificates have expiration dates hardcoded into them and must be renewed every 12 months to ensure that website entities have the most up to date security2. Renewing an SSL certificate is the same process as purchasing an SSL certificate for the first time. Once the new certificate is issued, it must be installed in place of the existing one.
